Ok, here's my comparison for shipping a 20 lb pkg from San Jose, CA to
Madisonville, LA. Pkg size is assumed to be 24x12x12 and valued at $100

Shipper     Service         Est'd Delivery      Insured?    Cost
USPS        Parcel Post     6 days                 no       $26.12
Fed-Ex      Ground          4 days                yes       $17.50

It's clear that Fed-Ex offers the better option for me. Maybe the rates are
different in your part of the country?
