Sorry... Nissan's VG30ET (along with the JDM VG20ET) in the USDM Z31 300zx
turbo (84-89) was a SOHC V6 with a SINGLE turbo, which had a crossover on
the exhaust from one side to the other for the turbo (symetrical, vs. the
SAAB's assymetrical design). Also, Nissan had a VG30DET (as opposed to the
VG30DETT seen in the Z32 300zx Twin Turbo, 90-96) which was a DOHC V6 with a
SINGLE symetrical turbo system in JDM versions of the Maxima and the
Infiniti I30, among others. I'm sure there are other makers that used a
symetrical system, also.

True SAAB guys must like Triumph engines :-) The 2.3L is a derivative of the
2.0L I4 from the TR7, which is itself a derivative of the 3.0L V8 from the
Stag. Although the SAAB engine is far removed from it's Triumph ancestor, a
SAAB DOHC head will fit on a TR7 block, with a little work, but I do not
think anything from the Triumph will not work in the modern SAAB I4 (now,
why would you want to do a thing like that!?!?!).
