You do realize that if you were to be in an accident, even if you were
completely innocent, that open container could put you at fault regardless
of the actual circimstances that caused the accident.
In no way is an open "beverage" being consumed by the driver of any car a
safe thing and I really can't find any way to justify it, or think that it
could even be considered ok by anyone that I know.
The few minutes it would take to drive home before you pop the top just
doesn't seem worth the risk you put on yourself and others.
