I'm not a big fan of it, but in Germany it is perfectly legal. It is
kind of weird and hard to get used to. the offence for a DUI is huge
compared to the US "slap-on-the-wrist". I think it begins with a
license suspension for several years.
My lonely planet guide mentioned an interesting fact about, i think,
romania. It said something in the likes of: "Drinking and driving in
Romania is a really big deal. You just don't do it. The first
offense is time in jail followed by huge fines. The second offense is
death. Seriously. Just don't do it." I'll have to see if I can find
it. Needless to say i didn't drink and drive in romania... hecj I
didn't drive in romania.... but I did drink :)

If I am driving I allow myself 1 drink. 1 beer or whatever and that's
it. If I am riding the BMW. Zip, zilch, nada, I'll have a coke
please. I'm dumb, not stupid.
