Well all,
some of you have heard i have been looking at adding a SHO to the
driveway here. My trusty ol green MTX is still going at 213,000, but
reliability is starting to suffer again. I don't mind fixing it or
investing money that is far beyond what the total value of the car is.
Heck sooner or later I will have replaced everything.
What i found though, as you can guess from the subject, is a second
SHO. It's a 92 Ultra-freaking-red, or as I like to call it
"Cop-finder-red". Has 121,000 on the clock and the engine runs so
nice and smooth that I forget it's running. It's got almost all the
goodies except has a manual passenger seat, and has split black
interior. Trans shift way better than the Green car, and the clutch
is about 6 months old. The lady who owned it worked for the Porter
County career Center with my brother, and they had done some of the
repairs on it. It got new struts about 30k ago, so they feel pretty
good. Great car, nd it's sooooo much quieter than my 93 is (now that
it's been modified). Course it is also dramatically slower.
The bad points are as follows. A couple door dings, some scratches,
and one rust spot on the passenger quarter panel. It looks like it
got a front corner hit as it has 1 newer headlight and the front of
the car was repainted. there is on structural damage from accidents.
Moonroof is noisy, but aren't they all. Anyone find some bulk
weatherstripping that can be used to replace the noisy seal? EATC has
punched in buttons, worse than the 93. JBL radio works, but upon
testing of the CD player, it digested a CD and won't regurgitate it.
No big deal as I will probably either swap my MP3 player from the
green car over, or I will get another one. Black B and C piller paint
has some major flaking, but that can be redone quite easily. It also
needs new tires as there is a wobble under acceleration I have been
told is due to bad tires, not any worn out suspension parts. I have
yet to put it on the lift to confirm this. The tires are older
firehawks, and I have never been a fan I am going to rotate them, or
maybe temporarily swap on a different set of wheels/tires and see if
everything goes away. I have way too mayny sets of wheels now. I
have 3 extra sets, and 2 on the cars..... Needs an alignment. it had
one with the struts, but that was 4 years ago (the car has seen less
use in the last few years). The steering wheel is not centered, and
that bugs me.
