Well I thought my SHO was a gonner.  The engine was making a hell of a racket.
I figured it was the rod bearings which was a major problem for me because of
a stripped pan nut that I couldn't get leverage on.  I was going to have to
pull the engine to get that pan off. Then I read an old posting by George
about Crank Cancer.  It sounded like everything I was expirencing so I took a
chance and checked it.  Sure enough it was that what it was.  I fixed with a
drive gear from my parts engine and changed the cam seals while I had it
apart.  Started it up and no more noise no more oil leak. Problem solved,
thanks George!  Looking forward to better gas mileage too.
