[Shotimes] Never say never re gas prices

Well, that's all relative. A 5,000-mile trip will take 200 gallons at 25 mpg. If gas goes up a $1/gallon, that's "only" another $200. Sure, it may break some people, but on a $2,000 vacation, we are talking 10%
 
For those of us beyond college with careers, etc, I will spend more than that on a vacation to get a better hotel, eat better food, and drink better beer!!  ;-)
 
FWIW, we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon in '92 (Honolulu, then Maui). Tried to save a few bucks, and used some hotel points, etc. We went back in '96. I had the airfare free from AA points, but we got nicer accomodations on Maui. Still cost me a grand more, even with free airfare, but it was worth it for the better overall experience.

That also means that if we are having a convention in Seattle, we'd better hurry up
and do it, otherwise it will take WAY too much money for east coasters to buy the
fuel for the trip out and back. It'll be a west coast only convention.
