[Shotimes] OT: Daylight Savings

I think the list has shed more "light" :) for the rest of the country as to
why Indiana is having a hard time passing any new legislation on this topic.
Look at all the different opinions from a list of a few hundred active
posters.  Imagine several million opinionated and some what old fashioned
people.

Saying we have more daylight is a little misleading. We have more daylight
when the majority of the people are awake.

We move forward to save energy because there is more light in the summer
months.  So by moving forward, we have more daylight.  During winter, when
there is a shorter day, we fall back because that gives us more daylight in
the evening.  If we didn't fall back, it would get dark at 3 in the
afternoon instead of 5.  During the summer, if we didn't spring forward, it
would get dark at 7 or 8 instead of 9.  We save energy and have more
daylight.  I base this on where I live in Florida, but that's the logic.
I read an article that America saves 250 billion dollars a year in energy
costs because of this, that figure could be wrong, but I know it's a ton o'
money.

We don't lose daylight either way, we gain.
