Prior to learning about this issue a couple of hours ago, I had never heard
of GMS, nor knew that Granatelli did MAFs. Everyone is jumping on their
case, but Pro-M "did" screw them, and the courts agreed. If GMS does what
they say wrt their relationships with Delphi, Hitachi, etc, it sounds like
they offer a good quality product, and the fact it costs 2x more should be
reflective of that quality, and obviously they have a more solid business.
Being the lowest-cost provider means nothing if your quality and service is
only 1/2 as good.
For as much as folks bitched about the SHO Shop, this was the fine line that
they walked. I'm sure that Vadim would much rather have had better-quality,
as well as more expensive parts (he was an engineer, after all!!), he also
knew the SHO market, and had to keep prices more reasonable.....which also
compromises the quality.

I find this interesting. As I was reading the comments
on the forum that I posted about I began to see a
larger picture and I remembered the problems that you
had with Pro-M. It seems that back in the day they
were pretty good but were lacking in quality recently.
Whatever the case may be, I didn't care for
Granatelli's attitude on the forum. I also thought
that some of his claims were outrageous such as "Pro-M
used junkyard cores for their MAF's". I am satisified
with my Pro-M (I'll find out more when I begin using
my TwEECer) so I feel that perhaps I was lucky. I know
that it is one of their earlier 80's as it was
purchased when they first came out by John Gentry
(whatever happend to him anyway?)
I just hope that I have someplace to go when I need a
filter.
