[Shotimes] EATC buttons in 1995

There is a really easy way to tell if it is the updated EATC unit. IIRC the
buttons on the older cracking prone units are just a hair under 1/4in tall,
while the new buttons are like 3/8in tall. Also all the new ones on the DEF
button have both the letters "DEF" and a symbol, old ones only had a symbol.

FWIW I took the one out of my 94 with two hairline cracks to the buttons
(nothing pushed in) and hit them up with some clear 20min Loctite epoxy. Put
it all back together for another year till I snagged a nice 95 unit from
Kirk for less than $60. Then sold my rinforced button one to a friend that
had all his buttons pushed in, for $75 :-) and his old 94 EATC which I plan
to put one of the newer faces on.

If you only have one cracked button, I'd reinforce them, then turn around
and re sell it on ebay, you might even get a few more bucks than you paid.
Just make sure to tell ppl the buttons have been reinforced and are not all
broken apart.

I would suspect that all Taurus/Sable would have the solid buttons
(actually, hollow versus solid) as I couldn't see them having two EATCs
used. The '95 solid-style also has taller buttons than those pre-'95 hollow
ones, which I assume also needed a new fascia for the EATC.

Best bet is Al's suggestion, check the part number.

Well, to be fair it might have actually come out of a 95 Sable. It's
possible that at some point it was replaced with the older style soft button
EATC. In that case, the seller isn't actually lying and may not have known
any better?

Did he describe it as the newer hard button style?

As we all know, in 1995 Ford revised the EATC to fix the problem of cracking
buttons. My question is, did ALL 1995 models get the hard-button, revised
EATC? Has anyone on the list ever seen a 1995 that had the earlier buttons
prone to cracking?

I won an eBay auction offering an EATC said to be from a 1995 Sable. It
arrived today and sure enough, it's got the older buttons, one slightly
cracked. I went back and looked more closely at the auction. The photo was
accurate (I hadn't looked closely enough), but the auction title and text
say 1995.

Can I go back to the seller and ask for a refund since it's not from a
1995 car?
