A while ago I was having a problem with the r-rear brake dragging. I
had replaced the caliper, pads, and left the e brake cable off. Among
the suggestion I got was to replace the hose. Well I just had the pads
wear out after 9K and the caliper kept overheating so I pulled it all
apart again and replaced everything including the hose. I think that was
the problem. I was unable even to blow air through it! This time I was
able to easily bleed the system, last time I was not. The piston was
fully extended and one of the pads had a bent backing plate. I had to
make a very hard stop the day before and that must have done it. I still
need to replace the ebrake cable, but I have the part and will finish
that this weekend. Coming home 125 miles last night the right side still
ran a little hotter than the right, but I suspect that may be the pads.
Apparently Autozone has changed suppliers. I had used their carbon
metallic pads but the same part number is no longer available. They now
give you Duralast gold pads, but still with a lifetime guarantee. (good
thing!) They also have a ceramic pad with a 2 year warranty but that is
more than I need. I suppose I should change the left side pads so they
match. I'll probably do that side hose at the same time to avoid
problems in the future. If one side is gone can the other be far behind?
Now, apparently the last time I had my tires rotated they messed up
my wheel lock. It almost didn't work. Does anybody have a set of lock
nuts & the key they don't want?
