No!!!! Which is exactly why I called them moron hacks. Engine, tranny, and brakes?!?!? How about an alarm system???? Suprisingly, only a very, very very few cars got an alarm system.

Their "work" may be fine when they're customizing a brand new Hummer or Bentley (with a healthy engine/trans/suspension) for some wealthy pro basketball player or (c)rap star, but when you take a 20-year old kid's beater and merely slap on $30,000 worth of paint, wheels, and stereo........I guess they're sticking true to the name of the show....afterall, they are "pimping" it, not "overehauilin" it.

However, in most of the early shows they always installed new shocks/struts and springs, usually Eibachs. A few times they even had Eibach custom wind a set of springs for an application that Eibach didn't cover. Nowadays, it seems like all they're concerned with is how many LCD monitors they can cram in to the car. They have only replaced the engine a few times, and only once did they pressure/steam clean the engine.

I can remember only a few times when they've acted "responsibly". The one that stands out the most is the kid who had an '89-ish Ford Escort that was actually 2 different Escorts welded together. They decided it was "un-pimpable" and bought the kid a new Scion xB. Proceeded with the usual stereo and computer, wheels and tires, upholstery - ran out of MTV money - so they did a horrible full-body vinyl graphics wrap instead of custom paint.

The other one that stands out is the Honda CRX owned by a kid who just had a kidney transplant. The engine would die at every stoplight so what did they do? They installed a junkyard engine for him!!!! Ummm, yeah, I don't need those 5 amps and 10 subs in my tiny little CRX, could you just install a rebuilt engine instead?

The one vehicle that should have got a new engine (but didn't) was the Suburban owned by a dirt-bike chick. Her engine was burning a quart of oil every 100 miles. They removed the '20 rows' of seating that a 'Burb is known for and installed about 10 large LCD monitors in the floor of the 'Burb and covered it with plexiglass....naaahhh, that won't get all scratched and cloudy. Then they made this god-awful alien-looking fiberglass speaker enclosure that held about 10 subs, and installed it in the way back of the 'Burb thereby eliminating any rearward vision. They replaced the sagging rear leaf springs (good), but the moron with all of the face piercings was hell-bent on 20-inch "Giovanni" wheels. They had the wrong offset and gave the truck a much too narrow track. What did they do for her ailing small-block? They changed the oil. Yup, that'll fix it.

Most recently they filled the entire bed of a full-size Chevy pick-up with $30,000 of giant LCD monitors, subs, amps, and of course, the obligatory Playstation. Of course the entire bed is covered with very thick plexiglass, which we all know is scratchproof. They added an airbag so the entire bed can be tilted a'la dump truck style. Pretty cool for tailgating during football season, but one day she's going to go shopping at the mall only to return later to find the entire bed of truck "missing". Her front brakes were metal on metal, so they graciously replaced her front pads and rotors. They didn't touch the rears though.
