[Shotimes] Oil Usage

I hope the following is not the reason for your oil problem, but another reason for sudden increase in oil consumption is a broken catalytic converter, where your engine may suck up all the "sand" in the cat during decelleration.  This may cause scratches in the cylinder walls.

Have you had any trouble with your catalytic converter lately?  Is it in good condition?  How old is it?
