[Shotimes] exhaust thoughts. Help!

I just got the '89 back from Doug Lewis with a greatly improved
suspension, a few more HP and a bunch of changes in the exhaust.
Seems my old original SHO Shop Y-pipe cats didn't survive all the dyno
testing (and all the track miles and highway miles could have had
something to do with it) so Doug cut out the cats and also the resonator
that came with the Rod shifter conversion all those years ago, it also
gave up the ghose. The cheap generic turbo mufflers out back also are
coming apart, so right now I have basically straight through exhaust
with religious turbo's in back (holey!) :)
I have been thinking for a track car, why have two heavy mufflers
hanging out back, and am considering having the local shop make a 2.5"
single stainless exhaust to one muffler.
I have been trying to think if I want to put any sort of resonator in
the stock location (cherry bomb etc) or leave it out. As a pretty much
pure race car, I want some noise, but also want to be able to drive it
on the street to a local cruise in, without getting stopped all the time.
Have considered a single Bullet Turbo out back, or maybe a straight
through sport type muffler with a nice tip on it.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Don M.
