Yep......looks. It does "look" better. Only way to make a single look good
is to have a different rear bumper and ice exhaust tips....which cost $$$.

Makes a lot of sense to me to do this. Which Flowmaster model did you get?
I never understood why SHO cars have dual exhaust, when the inlet to the
y-branch is 2 1/4"? There sure is no power benefit to this! I can only
come up with "looks" as a possible answer as to why Ford did this.
All other said, a single exhaust system offers nothing but advantages:
- Lower cost.
- Less maintainance.
- Weight savings (15-20lbs)
- ...and IMO improved looks, cause you won't see that long usually
dirty/rusty right-going branch pipe when observing the car from the rear.
I'm dropping my right rear side exhaust too and converting to single (rear
left) exhaust.
Got a 2 1/2" 18" long Magnaflow resonator ahead of things to quiet things
down.
Replaced the 2 1/4" intermediate pipe (between Y-pipe and resonator) with a
custom 2 1/2" piece. And got the 2 1/2" dynocrap snake section between
resonator and muffler.
Have not decided on the muffler yet
