 Have you tried the fuel pump test? I think this bypasses the IRCM relay? I 
am thinking your pump is very old and is now drawing too much current trying 
to keep up. Unless you have a short in the IRCM or wiring. Have not heard of 
this but who knows? Does the old IRCM now do the same as the new one? Are 
the IRCM's the same?
 I would change the fuel pump with that many miles. It's just very worn at 
this point. Use this guy:

One last thought. Have you changed the fuel filter? Maybe it's making the 
pump wok too hard? Of course this points back again to an old worn fuel 
pump.
