[Shotimes] tire grip

For autocross, go WAY smaller in the front bar. Lotsa 19mm around that folks
would probably give you free!!. IIRC, some of the auto-x guys used to
disconnect their front bar.
You want the car to "pivot" at low speeds. Only issue with getting a good
"pivot" in auto-x is that it could be too severe for the street or track
speeds.
In looking up the VictoRacers, I hope that you have them shaved/heat-cycled?
Of course, if you've already done track work with them, the heat cycling has
been done. If not, that can also cause issues.
Didn't you mean 225/50/16? I didn't see any 225/60/16 on the TR site. Those
225s are near-perfect for the 7.5" rim. I would not go to a wider tire like
a 245 unless you were getting rims at least 8" wide, preferably 8.5-9.0. For
auto-x, the 225 on a 7.5" rim should be all you need. Once you get the
driving technique perfected, they should be fine.
Actually, if you go to a 17" rim with 40-series tires, you may very well
LOSE contact patch, even with a 245 versus a 225 tire. I personally feel
that you have ore than enough tire right now. You might also play with tire
pressures some more, and experiment.
If I were doing auto-x in a SHO I personally wouldn't want Eibach springs.
The first few inches of soft compression do soften the response, and auto-x
requires quicker response than the street or track.

Subject: [Shotimes] tire grip
My Sr 72 has'nt been used since I ran the car at Sebring over a 1 1/2
ago ! ... Too many saturdays and sundays at the dealership and building
a new house for the past 14 mths.
Anyway .. i finally took the car to a SCCA event .. SOLO II. And did
fairly well. The car definitly out performed the driver ... me !
I didnt push the car to the limits ... I have no doubt that as I attend
more events I will get more in the groove and more comfortable doing so.
Question that I have is how do i get better grip ? The car still pushes
a little.
I use tokico shocks and Eibach springs .. 26 in sway bar the rear and 24
in the front. car is quiafed . Um ... all the suspension mods one can
think of have been done to it. I use Kuhmo Victor Racer 225x60x16 on
7.5" rims
If .. if i go to a 17 " rim .. ( something i have been thinking of to
get 13" rotors up front) and use a 245x40 tire ... wont that give me a
significantly better contact patch. Also .... i know some autocross
tires grip signifcantly better than other tires.
I have also heard with a qauife to use a smaller front sway bar .. say
abouta 22. Is this correct ?
Thanks for the input
