One of the reasons that some guys get Evos is because they feel that there
is more aftermarket available for it, plus there's an OMT floating around
that the short block assembly is more stout. Probably was true a few years
ago (with the JDM Evo parts available) but not today. Plus, you still get
25% more displacement with the STI right out of the box. Both can be tuned
to 450 WHP on pump gas and streetable, and over 500 WHP for the hardcore.

You're right, though either car as a hell of a lot of capability right out
of the box for a relatively cheap price. Probably the best overall
performance deal ever available to the public.

I'd have to give the styling points to the EVO (it's grown on me) although
mechanically I think I'd rather have the STI.  I think it has more potential
as a platform.

Both are pretty amazing cars in stock form though!
