I have been under the (obviously mistaken) impression that both Solo 1 and
Solo 2 were auto-x events. Even the descriptions on the SCCA site are not
that clear, although I just looked again, and the Solo 1 description, quoted
from their site (I'll leave out my "sic" comment) is:

"it's your against the clock, one driver at a time. Events take place on
race tracks, old airports, even up mountains."

In the past, I never caught the "track" part. I admit that they should write
their PR stuff for potential members who want to understand, not for current
members who they think know all of this stuff.

I must admit that I have developed a slightly negative attitude against the
SCCA over the past 20+ years or so. No, none of it is from personal
experience, but it is all from second-hand experience (from folks who
are/were involved). In reality, the PCA is much the same way, but from
first-hand experience with them, I accept the good stuff and ignore the
rest, as I was never that closely involved with them (other than the local
PCA Chapters, which are good/bad purely because of the local folks
involved).

Hmmmm....all stuff to think about!!
