Ron,

2006 Chrysler 300C Hemi, base car $34200
2006 Chrysler SRT-8, Base car: $42695
Add in the gas guzzler tax and you get the SRT at 9495 and you get a
difference of just under 10 grand, pretty much exactly what I said.
Factor in that you can't get a discount on an SRT and they are
discounting the regular 300C and what I said is pretty much EXACTLY right.

As for cost plus etc, the point was that you said the SHO wasn't worth
the extra money, and my point, and it makes little difference how the
factory figures it, in final pricing Europeon cars that are special
versions usually have the same engine with a few tweeks, and they get a
LOT more than just a couple thousand or so that you were implying the
SHO was worth.

My point, well proven is that the SHO was not overpriced compared to
contemporary in 1989 special cars and certainly not overpriced compared
to similar cars that give similar performance gains today from just
about any manufacturer you care to mention. Cost plus or not.

Oh, and as for what people paid, most SHO's were discounted, even from
near the start. I had one on order and got a nice normal discount off
it, but when they could not get the good sound system I bought a truck
to help us build the house. I again, feel my evaluation is valid, the
SHO wasn't marked up a bunch more than other similar cars of the time,
and the difference between the SLO and SHO isn't excepional compared to
cars today. Certain "value" cars like the 300 are priced right and
agreed, if the SHO was priced less, it probably would have sold better,
what doesn't?
