You hit it right on the head Paul!  I've been chuckling about that  
terminology for years (even as I near the magic age when I can start to claim  mine).  
 
I think the only people who, for sure, don't have "fixed" income are  
stockbrokers, gamblers and drug smugglers.
 
My personal definition of "fixed" income is that it better add  up to enough 
money to keep my SHO "fixed"!

Getting  off on more of a tangent, why do they only say that retirees are on
'fixed  incomes'? I'm on a fixed income, Whether I work 40 hours
(hahhahahahahaha)  or 90 hours a week, I get the same amount of money. It's
called  salary!
