Yes I've heard that. I replaced my wires when I
replaced my plugs the last time. The boots on the
replacement wires seemed to be bigger and deeper (if
that makes sense), at least the lip hung down lower on
the boot, so the fit didn't seem an issue. Who knows?

And yes, did them myself. Think it was a little more
then an hour for the plugs. The wires added alot more
time and a big headache. No need to remove the heads.
I'm not sure why some of these pansies say you need to
remove it when you don't. Just take a hose or two and
this funky canister off the back of the head, and you
should be good to go. I also have a spark plug socket
that has a joint in it which also helps.
