There's one thing down there that you have all forgotten....the oil level sender. 
It springs a leak quite often.  It's around the backside of the pan from the front
seal.  The sender and the gasket can both/each become a problem.  The gasket is
available separately.  The location of the original puddle makes me want to go there
first.
