You will want a pair of 6x8 speakers for the rear deck. Pick something
of high quality, 2 or 3 way is preferred. What option package do you
have? There was a JBL system offered from Ford which included a
subwoofer in the center of the rear deck that was powered by a separate
amp. Also, depending on the head unit that you have, you could forgo
the stock amp since the new deck may have more power anyways.
Other people may have more specific suggestions since I am of the camp
that a stereo is just useless weight (also a member of the no a/c club).

Subject: [Shotimes] Speakers 89
The deck was almost dead in my 89 SHO so I replaced it with a Sony CD
player. After the deck was installed I tired it out and it is LOUD!
That
factory amp really puts out some power. I don't see me entering any
contests with it, but I also don't see me ever riding in the car, even
with
windows down, with the stereo at full. Since it works so well, I would
like
to keep the factory amp.
So now my stereo is good and loud, but not as clear as it should be so I
want to replace the speakers. Looking the car up at the various
car-stereo
sites I keep finding "6x8 in back deck" which I know is not the whole
truth.
The car has a pair of 6x8 woofers for low ranges, and another speaker
for
mids and highs in the back. Nobody mentions the other speakers. Can
somebody tell me what sizes the speakers are and what the function of
them
is? I may have to buy 3 way speakers and remove the unwanted channels
myself, but that is not a problem. I just want to get a list of
speakers
before I go shopping so I only have to remove the speakers once, not
once to
measure and once to install.
Thanks, and Merry Chrsitmas!
