[Shotimes] Speakers 89

IIRC, the Gen1 JBL system had 2 "subs". I believe that
they were mounted below each rear deck speaker
somehow.

Stereo and AC are necessary weight for those long
drives. :-P

I don't have rear deck speakers though. I have
component MB Quarts up front and an Infinity 12" sub
in the trunk. Although I am more than happy with my
setup, my tastes have changed somewhat and I'd
probably do it differently with less amps/components
and less $$ spent. The backbone of my system dates
back to 1999 when I had my first 94 atx and I was 19
years old. I've gone through 2 different headunits
(I'm an Alpine HU person for life now) and 1
amplifier. My xtant 404m 4 channel amp (only using 2
of those channels) has been going strong since '99.
That's more than I can say of the xtant 2140c that
kept blowing up and was replaced with a friend's
Alpine 2 channel for my sub. My system will never win
SPL or SQL competitions but that's fine with me. It
sounds good enough and can get louder than I'll ever
be able to handle.

TechPriest, you might be happy with 2 way infinitys in
the back. Anything more than 2 way stacked all
together is more of a marketing thing and doesn't
really offer the best sound quality. The gen1 is setup
nicely (not sure about the 89's) for components up
front. I'd spend more time focusing on what's up front
but that's just me. My rear seat passengers never
agreed with me. =)
