There isn't a "best", there are a few very good SHO techs out there.

It all depends on where you live, and how far you are willing to drive to
get the work done.

OK...

Time to either get serious about my SHO or get rid of it.

Red '94 MTX, bought new, babied as best as I could through 180 K miles.

I am now encountering problems that my so-far OK mechanics are not
dealing with very well.

Eating rear brake pads...yeah, I know, I've been watching the posts
recently...

A shudder and whine in the front end that has been variously diagnosed as :

1-Wheel bearings.

2-No, it CAN"T be wheel bearings because the wheels don't shake when
manipulated on the lift.

3-Differential.

4-No. it can't be the diff because it doesn't change pitch when you turn.

5-Clutch throwout bearing. (I WILL need a new clutch w/in about 10K
miles...)

6-No, it can't be the throwout bearing because it doesn't change when
you depress the clutch.

Etc...plus some little things.

And a relative shortage of money that means I can't just throw money
at those ideas in the hope that one of them may be the problem.

So my question is...

If y'all wanted to put a 180K SHO back into really fine mechanical
condition...I live in NYC and frequent some rough neighborhoods as
part of my job, so cosmetics are actually something of a drawback..
you were free to do without the car for a while and would ship it
wherever you thought the work would be done really, REALLY well at a
fair price...nothing fancy, no messing around, no games, just an out
of the box stock SHO...

To whom would you send it?

Who's the consensus best of the best?

Thanks...
