Really? I hadn't heard that before (concerning the GR-2's being a Taurus
replacement, not SHO specific). Matter of fact, Midwest SHO show's the
GR-2's as being 10% stiffer than a stock SHO strut.
If you're correct, that would explain why the fronts ride so bad.
Perhaps the fronts are a Taurus only replacement, while the rears are
SHO specific?
Either way, I'm going to try a set of Monroe replacement struts soon. I
picked them up very cheap, so I figured they're at least worth trying
out. Can't be any worse than what's on there now! Frankly, if I can get
this thing to ride the way my completely stock 95 rode, I'd be very
happy.

The GR2s are a stock replacement for the taurus, not the SHO. Therefore
their dampening capacity is for a stock taurus spring, not an uprated
SHO spring and definitely not an even stiffer eibach. Since the rears
carry a much lighter load, the inability of the strut to dampen the
eibach isn't as noticable, but it's still probably there.
