No offense taken as I am a centrifugal guy.
Roots are great for torque. My SS supercharged car does build boost quickly
and can easily spin the tires very quickly with drag radials and a quaife.
I can imagine what a roots will do when trying to hook up at any kind of
hard initial throttle from a dead stop. Our Taurus' front suspensions were
never meant to handle big power. The control arms/strut rods are not beefy.
Lauching a boosted SHO/quaife properly takes a considerable amount of
skill (which I still suck at.)
While we are weak at dead stop drag racing...from a roll my car is flat out
fun plus I am not advertising to police or others that I have anything other
than a plain ol' Taurus.

Tom is also doing it for his sand buggy. Replacing the snakes seems to be
the best route for a street car. I know that some folks love the snakes. For
as unique as they were in 1989, they are old hat today. I think an Eaton (or
better yet, a Whipple) is more impressive on top of the engine!!
Roots-type is the only way to go. No offense to the centrifugal people, but
centrifugal is just not proper for a heavy car with small cubes and no real
gearing options.
