[Shotimes] Cleaning carpets

If the carpets are dirty enough to notice, any spray-on-vacuum-off powder
won't cut it!!
Don has the Wurth product, and there are two other solutions that have
worked for me. One is the Chem-Dry aerosol can. I am a believer in the
Chem-Dry process for home carpets, as it doesn't use water (or
steam.....same thing) and soap which leaves a residue and the other things
Don mentioned. Chem-Dry is a carbonated process.
The other that I stumbled across is denatured alcohol. $7/gallon at Home
Depot, and a sub-$1.00 spray bottle. Spray on, and work it with a rag. When
you are done, it dries quickly, and leaves no residue or scent. I used this
for the nasty spots that the Chem-Dry didn't get out.
There are detailers out there (and on the SHO/Taurus lists) that swear by
the water/steam/soap carpet cleaners, but IMNSHO there are way off base in
using those products in a vehicle.

Any recommendations here? Something like the type you spray on and then
vacuum off?
