Ditto what Ron said. Check the vacuum lines & switches first. My 94 MTX had
the same issue and also black dust on the carpet, which I traced to the
vacuum hose / clutch release line near the clutch pedal. The hose was was
rubbing on the steering column and had worn a hole in it, releasing the
cruise all the time. I just cut and plugged the line. Cruise worked fine.
Some day I'll splice in a new piece of vacuum hose. There is both an
electric (brake light) and vacuum (switch) release on the cruise control
system. I still have one that works.

PS: But I do still have the spare cruise servo if anyone wants one...
