[Shotimes] Cleaning carpets

FWIW, I used denatured alcohol, not isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, but the net
effect should be the same. For carpet cleaning, the key difference is that
the denatured is cheaper by the gallon.
My two general-purpose cleaners of choice around the garage are lacquer
thinner and denatured alcohol.

So I ended up using the isopropyl alcohol with a cloth this morning.
Here's the story.
This may have happened to you and if not it probably will. There is a
rubber stopper for the e-brake pedal. I've noticed that thing on my son's
95 decided to go into melt down and made a good mess. Not taking that
clue, this morning I get into my SHO (all cleaned already, remember?) and
I feel something on the bottom of my foot. It is a glom of this melted
rubber crap from the stopper and I managed to track it over several spots
on the mat. After the depression wore off, I got the rubbing alcohol and
poured a little onto a cloth and proceeded to rub out the melted rubber.
As you said, it works very well, doesn't discolor the carpet, and doesn't
smell.
As soon as I get a chance, I need to remove the residual rubber on the
pedal lever so it doesn't happen again.
