Carl.
First I don't blame you at all for not following this, it is not your
generation.
We have been saddled with, for lack of a more precise term, a crappy
design of the cams.
The sprocket is a press fit that can't possibly stand up to an engine
that has the capability of 14,000RPM.
Having seen more failures, and potential failure, i.e Tim's It just
makes me sick that Ford, despite my best efforts, will get away with
this BS design.
They had to build "X" amount of cars with V8's. Cosworth/Yamaha/Ford got
together for the design. I can speak from first hand experience that the
majority of this engine could be dropped into a CART car and, with a
little tweaking, be darned impressive. 21 bolt main?? Give me a break.
They just screwed the pooch when someone in a cubicle thought they could
press fit a sprocket to a cam tube.
It's just not right. Did I sue em? Yep. Do I expect the world to change
because I did? Nope.
I will though continue to piss in their collective cheerios as long as
I can. They just missed the mark on this.
Hmmm Lets look at the new Volvo(Ford) V8 Yamhammer in the new X90. Gee
Billeted cam. Progress, or oops we screwed up the first time.
don't matter.
Look At this guy who is cam failure 497-500 did he deserve it????

Nobody deserves it, IMHO.
