After I did my 3.2 swap and put on all new suspension, and steering
components I have been noticing a little dead spot when the wheel is
centered. my car never had that before and the rack was flushed out why I
first got the car back at 68k. all new innner and outer tie rod ends were
installed, and fresh mobil 1 synthetic ATF was filled in the system. Car was
aligned very close to my specs, caster is +2.95 on both sides, toe is 1/32
in., and the camber is around -.70 on both sides.
Now given that I never had rack issues before I'm wondering if there might
be something else coming into play here. I have a little deadspot say
1/2-3/4 of an inch of wheel movement before I can feel the ccar respond on
the road. it's not terrible cause I can be right at the edge of the deadspot
and the car tracks dead nuts straight, or follows the crown of the road ,
damn caster. Anyhow I am thinkign about doign the whole gen3 rack & SF ect,
but I was wondering if there might be something else I could do to the rack
to rid me of this deadspot.
Any thoughts or advice :-)
