[Shotimes] Track Day - Road Atlanta

That sounds like a blast.  I have 2 problems, though:
1.  I've ridden around RA before (in a Panoz school car and a golf cart) but I've never driven on a track before, so what kind of school/training/certification would I need to get out there?
2.  I'm a little weary that bringing my 139k daily driver SHO with an already iffy tranny would only bring it closer to needing a lot of expensive work. My Miata on the other hand.....

Spoke to some folks who were there last time who frequent the track, and we
may just all hook up together to save a few bucks.
