Gen 1...yes. That's all I know anything about.....I am a Gen 1 kinda guy. I just
never 'graduated' to the Gen 2s....! ;-) ...probably won't!
Component speakers are almost always better, but in a car, one doesn't always have a
choice as to where to mount them. A 4-door sedan's cabin is a terrible place to try
to create accurate sound coutours. I totally agree, that when conditions are ideal,
component speakers are the best way to go. I have component MB Quarts in the front
doors of the Crown Vic. They sound excellent. On the other hand, I have 4 way
Premier 6x9s in the back of Lowrider, and 3 way 5.5 inch round speakers in the front
doors. Those same speakers are going to go in the GS later this spring, when I
completely redo the sound system. They are currently in two cars here...Lowrider
has great Alpine amps to drive them, and the other is the wagon....same speakers,
but just the head unit driving them....just loafing along on the crumbs left over
when the other cars get to 'eat'...(get nice fat upgrades).
Lowrider sounds as good as the CV, and as good as the house, with a brand new Denon
HT system. It's the one that has been upgraded the most, and gets adjusted the
most, to make it sound as good as possible. Except for the occasional buzz coming
from the factory package tray when the sub hits a particularly good note, it's
excellent. I'd put it up against anything out there that is not designed for hip
hop or rap.....to me, that is not music. It sends a message, which is the intent,
but it is not musical. No music type threads need start here; I'm just saying I
listen to musical music, not the other kind.
