[Shotimes] Reinforced Diffs? Couple of questions

I can't imagine who in their right mind would think that JB weld would hold
a diff pin there. I mean like you say steel diff shafts to an anuminum case,
that just soulds like one is saking for trouble.

I'm doing something a little more in depth with custom machined steel plates
that are bolted to the diff ring and are tack welded to the ends of the
pinion shafts. That way the shaft cannot move at all even when the gears
inside chew it up. It's a little labor intensive to do, but it looks like it
makes for a greatly improved diff that cannot physically ever eject the pin.
It would have to bend A LOT of steel to make it out of the case.

Subject: [Shotimes] Reinforced Diffs? Couple of questions

I don't want to turn this into a Quaife Debate. But I've seen atleast two
ways to do this as of late. The band around to contain the pins.
Seems simple and effective. The C Clip version that I run was a total bitch
and not worth talking about because I wont do it again. I heard something
once about bigger roll pins And then today I hear about this supposedly top
secret method that one tranny builder is using and I want some opinions on
this. JB Weld the ends of the pins to the diff case?
Come on that can't really be working can it? No matter how much you rough up
the area's the two dissimilar metals and the force of a diff pin ejection
must just rip the JB Weld away right? Anyone seen one of these things in
person? I don't consider any of the above a reinforment but more a
containment issue to save the tranny case. But I gotta think that if the pin
ejects and blows the JB Weld all over the case that can't be good either!
