Michael,
A wonderful name from the past! Welcome back, glad you are enjoying the
LS, but more glad you still have a SHO or two. Like potato chips, they
are hard to put down.
The only thing I remember about that V8 for Volvo is that some people
speculated that Yamaha had taken what they learned in the first two SHO
engines and applied it to make this techno wonder. V8 group also
wondered how nice it would have been to have that engine in a SHO.
Never heard anything about Ford considering a SHO version though, and I
would be amazed if they did. Sure be nice though, maybe the club would
start growing again.
If they do make an LS version, then I just might get back into a newer
Ford. Right now I have a 300C Hemi because I wanted room, power and
RWD, and Ford doesn't make such an animal so far. IF they improve the
driving dynamics on the 500.... a LOT....and put in that V8 with RWD or
rear biased AWD and a near 50-50 weight distribution (once you get used
to that, it is hard to be without it!) I might be tempted. But as usual
with Ford, except for certain Mustang based projects, they are going
conservative. If they expect to even come close to competing with the
300 and variants and get back some sedan business they are losing, then
they need 350 hp at least. Why be half-hearted, go for the gusto!
Just so you know, SHO international convention #!4 is going on next
month in Indianapolis. Why not bring one of your SHO's, or even your LS
and have some fun with your old friends!
No matter what, it is good to hear from you.
