Oh, you want to run a 'stock' Harley? Ahh, well ya that wouldn't be
much of a race! But, as a gear head, who has 'stock' toys? :)
In stock trim my Sportster will do 13's. But, with a little aftermarket
magic it's very capable of 11's. That's the nice thing about a Harley -
plenty of aftermarket options. Stroker kits, cams, heads, exhausts,
etc..
To each their own. Sure, there are a lot of HD's out there that aren't
going to ever approach an 11 second quarter (or a 14 second one for that
matter!). But most of those folks don't want to. For those that do and
want a Harley, it's very easy to accomplish.
Oh, and I can show you a 'stock' Harley that'll do mid-12's - hell,
it'll do 11's. They call it the V-Rod (and now they have the Sport-Rod
that's a bit faster, handles better, etc..).

The Yamaha XS11 Special (1100CC) was the first bone-stock bike to run in
the 11s back in '78. My '79 XS11 Special has a Kerker 4-in-1, which adds
a few HP. If I had the balls, it would run easy 11s. I no longer have
the balls to do full-throttle in 1st gear, as all 600+ #s lift the wheel
REAL easy.
Show me ONE Harley that can run even mid-12s.
Sorry, I am not/never have been/never will be a Harley guy. They are
cruisers....which ain't my thing.
If I were to ever buy a new bike it would be a Hayabusa, and I would
update my will the day I bought it!! Bone-stock 9-second-ETs have an
appeal to me.
