I don't believe the ECM will keep a code for the crank sensor as long as the
car is running. It will store a code while it won't start due to a dead
sensor. But you have to read the code then. As soon as it fires up I believe
it erases the code. So a code on an intermittant CPS is very tough thing to
catch!.
BTW all you need is a paper clip to read the code via the blinking light.

Just wait til it acts up again, and if it is a CPS it will, and then read
the codes quickly, while its down. Have paper clip and procedure in glovebox
waiting.
