As soon as I saw that you had replied, I knew what
this was going to be about. :-)

I wasn't thinking about arresting cables on the deck
of an aircraft carrier. I was thinking of a jet that
went to 0mph in midair. 2 seconds sounds a bit fast
though; you guys setting the tension a bit high in the
cables and breaking your pilot's spines? :) In all
seriousness, once the tail hook snags the cable about
how long does it take before the plane stops (COD,
F14, F18) etc. 4 seconds? I have a friend that works
for a company (the company?) that
(designs?/maintains?) those systems..I should ask
him..
