[Shotimes] (semi OT) $2K car for teen sons

My 16 and 17-year-old sons are saying that our 94 Crown Vic is creaky and 
floaty and its corners very far away from the driver.  Okay, I can accept 
that.  (I'm thinking, but it is a V8 with RWD, H-pipe, ...  I'm not 
committed to selling it, but I gotta give my kids a chance to think for 
themselves.)  Looks like selling the CV would yield (after taxes, fees, 
etc.) $2K toward a smaller, more agile car.

So, budget is $2K  Suggestions?
