Except in Michigan where the plate has to be dead atleast 24 months then 
it's taken out of the system. Then 24 months after it's taken out it can 
be reissued. So in 4 years Ron's GR8 SHO plate could possibly be 
available again. Now lets say 36 Months go buy Ron buy's another SHO 
digs out the old GR8 SHO plate he can go have it reactivated again. 
Thats how I got away with taking my Cobra off the road for a rebuild for 
3 years never renewing plates and getting my plate back. Mine are pretty 
simple the 90 has SHOFORD on it and the wifes 92 has SHOBOOM on it. I 
bet jaws dropped when that read that last plate!
