Gen 2 dashes seem to be wider and thinner than Gen 1s, if I remember.  I've never
worked on the inside of a Gen 2.  I've always been a Gen 1 kinda guy.  The first
time I did it, I tried and tried to get the cluster past the column....and that was
with the plastic cover off, which is a whole other ballgame, what with the ice-pic
that has to be used to take the ignition tumbler out, before one can remove the
plastic.

It's just simpler to lower the column, overall time wise.

Remember, as with struts and springs.....the book way might not always be the most
efficient way.
