The VW Corrado G60 had a retrctable spoiler as well.  I'm prrttyy sure that the spoiler on thw boxer is just that, as far as I know its not the oil cooler, and its used for high speed as well as braking stability.

No, VW Beetle's with the Turbo gas motor can get them. In addition, the
Chrysler Crossfire has one. The Porsche Boxter doesn't have a spoiler but
its oil cooler extends and retracts.

Wow, a polite commercial.  Is that the first time a pop-up spoiler is used
on a production car?  This is different to me than the old Carrera whale
tail that flips up.  Funny thing I was thinking about this sitting behind
a car the other day in that it might be a good idea to hide a spoiler when
driving around traffic.
