[Shotimes] A/C woes

As far as the A/C, is it R12 or 134a? You really need to get (borrow) a set
of guages that let you look at the low and high side at the same time. This
will give you a pretty good idea if the orriface (how ever you spell it) is
plugged up w/ anything or not, or if there is too little / too much freon in
the system, or some other issue.

I know that doesn't help much, but I was able to "read" alot more into the
a/c system when looking at both sides of the compressor and expansion
orriface :)

Subject: [Shotimes] A/C woes

Hey gang, I have a perplexing question. I recharged the A/C system in
the wife's car up to about 45 psi, but the damned thing still won't blow
cold air. I looked at the clutch, and it's rhythmically cycling on and
off on MAX A/C. I did the broomstick (actually mop handle in this case)
test with no different results. It'll turn on for about half a second
then shut off for about 3. I hooked a pressure gauge up to the low
pressure port and it was at 45 right before it would cycle, then it'd
turn on and immediately drop to about 20, at which point it'd shut off.
then it would slowly get back up to 45 before it'd try again. wtf is up
with that?

Also, I've noticed a low whistle coming out of the intake at idle. I
spent like 5 minutes hunting for it 'til I took the air filter off...
sounds like someone's in there whistling a really low note. It's pretty
loud. It goes away as soon as I goose the throttle and it comes back as
the engine dips back to idle. All gears.

Anybody know what's up with either of these symptoms? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
