[Shotimes] Blend Door problem

On my 10 yr, 280k mi 89, I had 2 similar issues:
One: The actuator / lever became disconnected, and could be seen after you
opened the glove box door. I was able to jury-rig this several times
until...
Two: A pencil fell all the way down thru the defroster vent and jammed the
vent door down by the floor. (There is really nothing to prevent this from
happening. Bad design. I would suggest a screen of some sort on the
defroster outlets on the dash top). Had to pull the whole dash, evaporator,
etc. just to find out what was wrong, for a 2 second fix. Major PITA! There
is something very wrong with a cars design when it takes 8 hours to get to a
part that only takes 2 seconds to fix!!
.
This is probably why the running joke among mechanics about Tauri is that
Ford jacked up a heater core in the air first, and then built the rest of a
Taurus around it.
