[Shotimes] valve clearance questions

I found that when I did my +20's I used the following.

3 2450's
5 2475's
8 2500's
1 2525
4 2550's
3 2575's 

All but 5 valves on the engine were set to tight end of the spec without
going over tighter than the spec.I'm looking forward to pulling the cams out
in a few weeks to dry film coat them, possibly add some adjustable
sprockets, reshim, and DLF coat the shims too.

Ian (and anybody putting in these cams) after doing the 40's, I would do
things different.  When you pull the cams out, put the thinnest shims in you
have.  This will make it easier to use the valve tools (it's much harder
with the reground base circles, shims and buckets bumped up with the lash
caps, etc).  Then, find the clearance with the thin shim, figure how much up
you need  to go,and drop in the correct size.  Will be easier with monkeying
around with the thicker ones and the valve tools.  And you may find the thin
ones may be close anyway...

the 20's may not be as bad as the 40's, but I'd still do it that way.

Actually between the base circle and shim, but yeah...same thing (you want
the lobes pointed up)

I had to use really really thin stuff when I did the +40's, and that was to
barely to keep them in range (they are on the tight end of spec).  I
basically depleted my thin shim stash (2300 range) doing them.  Things may
be different with the 20s.  I will say they are pretty consistant, so the
grinder does a good job with that.
