The first second-hand SHO (another '90) I got had that problem. We never did really
find the cause, but in general it appeared to be bad connections in some of the
various plugs that connect the engine wiring harnesses to the body harnesses. It
only bucked and missed in warm weather. Below freezing, it ran perfectly. I bought
it in Texas, and drove it home to CA in January, and it didn't miss once until the
temp was above freezing, within 6 hours of home. As the engine moved, it flexed the
connectors, and one or two of them would momentarily disconnect. This was back in
1999-2000, and prompted the "open up all the connectors and clean them, and wipe the
dust off the coil pack" threads about rough running engines during acceleration. At
first I thought it was the TPS, since it only bucked when I moved the throttle to
start from a stop.
I sold that car to a friend in Seattle, after thinking I had fixed it. It started
doing it again, but he has made it a lot better over time, by cleaning more
connectors than I did when I had it.
He's still my friend, and loves the car.
If you can connect a breakout box to the PCM connector, maybe you can find the
affected circuit.
