Frank,
We will know more after this weekend, but I am liking the Akebono
Ceramic pads. I had them on the 540i 6-speed I had for a while. The
held up superb and had great braking power at a two day track event last
year in St. Louis at the NASCAR oval/infield track I did with the BMW
club. They also put almost zero dust on the wheels, last a long time
and don't tear up disks. I am sure there are pads that are a bit more
aggressive, but I loved these.
Tire Rack sells them in the correct size for the 96 front brakes, and
they also come in the correct rear size. Just have to pick out two
different cars to be able to order. Price is comparable to stock Ford
pads that work very well, but dust more than the Akebono and wear a bit
quicker.
I will report after Ken tries the set he put on his '95 with '96 upgrade
this weekend at a three day SVT event in Joliet at the Autobahn track.
I will take either the '89 or the '96.
