No, the subframe does NOT need to be touched. Yes, the clutch on the ATX is
hard to get at but not impossible. I would estimate about 1 hour for a
"real" mechanic. I think your parts cost are over double what they should be
too. My local O-Reilly has the complete clutch for $90. For $289 I can get a
remanufactured clutch AND compressor! How can they charge you a fee for
diagnostics when you get it back and the A/C does not work? If the clutch is
new then there is NO adjustment? The only reason the A/C clutch gap is ever
adjusted is for wear of the old clutch. Did you get the old parts back? What
did they look like?
Where are you located? Maybe a SHO guy is near by?
I think they screwed you badly!
